Mumbai: Billavar Association Organizes Gala ‘Aatida Porlu’

Mumbai, Aug 24: The Billavar Association organized ‘Aatida Porlu’, an extravaganza of ‘Aati’ celebrations at Billava Bhavan, Santa Cruz (East), here on Sunday August 21.

Billavar Association women’s wing president Jayanti V Ullal inaugurated the programme with the Tulunadu tradition of pouring paddy into a large measure.

Association president Jaya C Suvarna and wife Leelavati Jaya Suvarna, vice-president L V Amin, Nityanand D Kotian and C T Salian, honorary chief secretary Jyoti K Suvarna, office-bearers Shankar D Poojary, Dr U Dhananjay Kumar, Uday S Salian, Ganesh M Billava, Dharmapal Anchan, and Bharat Co-operative Bank director Raja V Salian conveyed best wishes for the programme.

The guests were traditionally welcomed with jaggery and water by the members of the women’s wing.

Twenty-one varieties of Aati delicacies prepared by the women’s wing members were shared by all on the occasion.

Women’s wing secretary Laxmi Kotian and Dharmesh S Salian compered the programme.
