Chennai, Aug 20 (IANS) It rained runs in the All-India Buchi Babu cricket tournament here Saturday as majority of the bowlers toiled for meagre returns with Baroda and Karnataka topping the 400-run mark in their respective group matches.
Karnataka piled up 410 for seven in their quota of 90 overs with Bharat Chipli (120, 147b, 13x4, 2x6), helping himself to a century while adding 207 for the second wicket in 47.5 overs with KB Pawan (85, 178b, 8x4).
The total was further boosted as Stuart Binny slammed 70 while Kunal Kapoor (46) and Suchit (46 not out) chipped in at the fag end of the innings.
Similarly, Baroda piled up 451 for five in 90 overs against Rajasthan. Anupam Gupta (106, 164b, 11x4, 1x6) and Adiya Waghmode (184, 207b, 9x4, 1x6) put on 194 runs in 46.4 overs for the second wicket to lay a solid foundation.
Nikil Patin (108) of Mumbai was the other centurion and his knock propped up the innings that closed at 207 against Vidarbha.
Meanwhile, R. Aushik Srinivas of TNCA President's XI and Ajay Rayput of Madhya Pradesh took six wickets apiece to provide some balance to the day's proceedings.
