Karwar, Sep 29: A case is filed in the women’s police station here against a man, who is a native of Puttur for enticing a married woman, sexually harassing and trying to extort money through blackmail.

The accused is identified as Prashant Bhat Manila. The complainant woman was interested in music and used to sing in Clubhouse, an app. She got acquainted with the accused through the app. They liked each other. The accused came to meet the woman in January 2023 and took a room in a private lodge. He sexually assaulted the woman in the lodge. The same act was repeated once again after some time in the same lodge.

During the time the accused was with the woman, he clicked their private moments on phone. It is also alleged that the accused made video call and captured nude photos of the woman. Then he demanded money from her. She gave him Rs 25,000. Later, the accused threatened to leak her private photos on social media and demanded Rs seven lac. In addition, he also sent her private photos to the complainant woman’s mother and other friends.
