Coach Fletcher Wants New Blood in Test Team

Daijiworld Media Network

London, Aug 16: India's humiliating defeat against the English team and the subsequent loss of the number one position in test cricket has had coach Duncan Fletcher worried.

Fletcher is now reportedly looking for youngsters who can handle the pressure and demands of test cricket.

"I am especially looking at the young guys and trying to assess if they have character to handle Test cricket," he told the 'Sunday Telegraph'.

"I'm trying to settle in and see characters of individuals," Fletcher said.

According to the newspaper, Fletcher is worried about who would take over the reigns of Indian cricket after greats like Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman retire.

Youngsters like Abhinav Mukund, who played in two of the three tests in the series, and Suresh Raina did not make much impact in the series. The Indian team was also marred by injuries which added to its worries.

It is strange that you comment on this and not take the time to find out who Fletcher is . He is probably one of the best coaches of the last decade and have been the catalyst of the England revival years ago . He needs to start with new players that are dedicated to Indian cricket and he should be given time to put his stamp on Indian cricket .

Duncan Fletcher is not English. He is from Zimbabwe though he coached the English cricket team for eight years.

Is this coach Fletcher from England. I am not sure if he was the coach for English team before. If he was then I have a feeling he could be very actively contributing to the downfall of the Indian team. He should have coached the Indian team on he weakness and strengths of the English players. I think he has done the opposite and misinformed the Indian team as a result whatever they did was going wrong. I have a feeling he is sabotaging the Indian cricket from the inside. Ultimately he would still be more biased towards the English team due to his nationality. There is something seriously wrong in appointing an English coach that too at the time of this series against England.
