Police thwart attempt to hoist saffron flag alongside tricolour in Belagavi

Belagavi, Aug 15 (IANS): The Karnataka Police on Tuesday prevented an attempt to hoist a saffron flag alongside the Tricolour on the occasion of 77th Independence Day in Belagavi district.

Two corporators with their supporters attempted to hoist the saffron flag on the municipality building in Nipani city in the district alongside the Tricolour.

The incident took place after the hoisting of Tricolour by the BJP local MLA and former minister Shashikala Jolle and the district administration.

According to police, the corporators of Nipani Municipality, Vinayaka Wade and Sanjaya Sangaovkar came with saffron flags and attempted to hoist it also. The corporators were backed by the NCP party. The police stopped the corporators and sent them back.

    People in power and most people seem to have forgotten the importance of Hoisting the Tricolour. Har Ghar Tiranga for three days is not right as per Flag Hoisting Rule. But everything is changed as per everyone's convenience. Earlier Flag could be hoisted in the morning & had to be taken down by sunset - this rule is also taken away per convenience sake. Private vehicles flying National flag-is also not right. But that is done by many vehicles this time. My concern is also that what happens to these flags once 15th August is over? You see them on road sides, in garbage heaps around the city thrown without maintaining the decorum and dignity. We seem to be missing ways to respect & preserve dignity of our country's flag.

    Flavian Kuwait,Flavian they are not anti Nationals ,they dont know what is National pride ,value of a Nation to which they belong.sad.They only know what some teach or put intheir head.Belong some Party.slogans .or hate speach .Pity even on a Independence day their hear is not working.Dont know difference between National Anthem and flag hoisting Simply want to hoist their Party flag..

    this is the reality of the chaddi gulams...when congress in in power...they create all non sense..and also fund money to organizations to create unrest in society....it is well known....mecca masjid blast, samjauta express blast, german bakery blast were carried out by cheddis to destablize the country when congress was in power...but congress does not resort to such cheap class things...in fact chaddis are the real threat to this country...

    I dont understand last 5yrs BJP is ruling & these people didnt even single time try to hoist Saffron flag. Now suddenly they are trying to patronize saffron. Needs proper police repairing.
