Dubai International Airport Traffic up 8.9 percent


Dubai, July 25 (IANS/WAM) Dubai International Airport recorded the busiest six months in its 50-year history as 24.6 million passengers passed through it, making it the world's fourth busiest airport.

The figure was up 8.9 percent compared to 22.6 million in the corresponding period last year, according to the mid-year results released by the airport authority Monday.

In June, the airport handled 4.7 million passengers, up 10.4 percent from the 3.68 million in the same period last year.

The average monthly passenger traffic recorded in the first half of 2011 stands at 4.09 million, compared to 3.76 million during the corresponding period in 2010.
