Varsha Sanjeev Bags National Billiards Title


Chennai, Jul 19 (IANS): Varsha Sanjeev of Karnataka, ranked No.3 last year, fared far better this time as she won the sub-junior girls billiards title in the National Championship here Tuesday, defeating Keerath Bhandal of Delhi 102-96.

In a battle of attrition with neither willing to take chances, Keerath topped with a break of 13 as against 12 by Varsha who, however, played smart by occupying the table and eventually beat the clock as also her opponent.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, Varsha defeated I Lahari (AP) 121-117 while Keerath Bhandal overcame Sania Arif (Chandigarh) 99-74.
