It was a pleasure to hear the news on Doordarshan with such graceful ladies like Ms Gitanjali Aiyar who was soft-spoken and gentle. Never did the viewers have any comment on the way they presented the news and views. We miss them today. May she rest in peace.

Great anchor for DD. We always looked forward to seeing her on our black and white TV until we got the Coloured one. A great loss to the Media. Our present day Media must learn from this great lady. Dignified, great presenter and well respected. Will miss you Ms.Iyer. RIP.

Those were the Doordarshan days (now Doob Darshan the aftermath of satellite channel era) I would switch on the TV to watch her reading the news. Of all the English newsreaders, I liked Minu the best. She was my heart throb. There were many Hindi newsreaders too - Shammi Narang was a class of his own and Salma Sultan - without fail decked a rose on a corner of her head. Doob Darshan primarily was responsible for allowing the free entry of satellite channels to enter Indian household due to which it lost more than 90% public viewership as a result of its stubbornness in not acceding to viewers requests at that age - one being not airing Hindi feature films on Sunday evenings despite populous demand.

A movie on Sundays and Chitrahaar (filmy songs) on Thursdays were the main attractions of DD during those days.
