Mumbai: Death of Blasts’ Suspect - DGP Orders CID Inquiry

Mumbai, Jul 17: Faiz Usmani, who was detained by Mumbai police for interrogation regarding Mumbai blasts which happened on Jul 13 evening, died under police custody, reportedly due to brain haemorrhage.

The family of Usmani blamed Mumbai police for the death by accusing that he died due to police torture.

On Sunday noon, Ajit Parasnis, Maharashtra DGP has ordered CID inquiry into the case. Speaking to the media, Joint Police Commissioner for Law and Order R Seth told that, CID inquiry has been ordered and CID will look into the issues in every angle.

It is said that, CT scan report has confirmed that Usmani death was natural. Due to high blood pressure Usmani was attacked by brain haemorrhage and he died around 12.25am Sunday.

The body has been sent to postmortem. A hospital source informed the media that, there were no marks on the body and ruled out any physical torture.

It is learnt that, Faiz was involved in Gujarath Blast case, and hence he was integrated in suspect of his role in Mumbai's triple blasts.
