Mangaluru: Mulki police register two cases of matka after ‘phone-in programme’

Mangaluru, Jun 3: The police department took quick action based on complaints received on a phone-in programme held at the police commissioner's office here on Saturday, June 3.

Following the complaint from callers, the Mulki police have registered two cases related to matka in the town and seized Rs 1,365 in total from two accused persons in separate cases.

The police seized Rs 700 from the accused one Mohan Poojary and a case was registered against the accused. The Mulki police also seized Rs 665 from another accused Anand and a case was registered against another accused.

Another complaint was received regarding a person in Moodbidri selling illegal liquor. The Moodbidri police inspector and his team visited the accused's house and searched for any illegal activity and they found no illegal activity there. Beat constables have been instructed to keep a watch on the person in future as well.

Meanwhile, the Panambur inspector and his team raided a bar and its surrounding areas based on a complaint received in the phone-in programme. However, they did not find any matka or gambling activity taking place in the bar. The police also checked the CCTV footage and stated that they would keep a watch on the activities in the bar in the future as well.

    actually the khaki itself is corrupt...they know every illegal activity that takes place under their police station limits...as they get hafta they keep quiet...only for eye wash when programmes like this are held...they arrest the kingpins and then release them once the heat is gone...who is going to follow whether the arrested people are taken to court or not? this is called demo crazy
