Mangaluru: Ruchi Gold Palmolein oil manufacturers caught red-handed releasing effluents into river

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Jun 2: Nagarika Horata Samithi led by Muneer Katipalla caught Ruchi Gold Palmolein Oil manufacturers red-handed while they were releasing industrial waste into Phalguni river contaminating its water.

Nagarika Horata Samithi has been continuously protesting against companies such as Ruchi Gold and Adani Wilmar as they release chemical effluents into the river through underground pipeline. Even though the district administration and pollution control board have received notice to take stringent action against them, no action has been taken against such industries. The manufacturers of Ruchi Gold oil were releasing chemical effluents near Thokur towards the river.

Two days ago, the pollution control board officials had visited the spot and collected the evidence of chemical effluents being released into water. They too are aware about the serious issue.

However, even after two days, Ruchi Gold are still releasing the effluents into the river. It is unfortunate that even the elected representatives are silent on this issue.

Nagarika Horata Samithi have exposed one such pipeline at Jokatte where they release effluents into Phalguni river and demanded action against them.

Hats off to Nagarika Horata Samithi committee., even though there are so many social workers committee, they start something for a good cause, but after the close door meeting they become silent. I would like here to also raise the serious concerns of Kudremukha iron ore company where it emits iron ore powder creating air pollution , the iron ore powder is deposited in the nearby area and personnel living in the vicinity breath this polluted air which has given rise to many health issues . It has been observed the citizens living in the vicinity are suffering from serious health issues. Such companies should not be near the residential area. I strongly believe if unity we can get rid such companies from residential area. Wish committee like Nagarika Horata Samithi can take this concern we can join to fight.

My long time suspicion has come true. The district authorities are receiving hafta from these industries to release waste into the river. I wonder since how many years they have been doing this. Phalguni and Netravati are so polluted their fish population is reducing every year. There is hardly any fish in Phalguni as now and then we read reports of dead fish floating near Maravoor dam. Mangaloreans who boast of our development and industries should realize one thing. The industry is at a cost. We are paying a heavy price by allowing these industries release their pollutants into our atmosphere. Thanks to people like Muneer Katipalla, atleast these issues are brought to public attention.

Ruchi Gold Soya Oil Industries is owned by Patanjali of Baba Ram Dev, a "Known Defaulter." He has long arms and deep pockets. It is time that the new Government if Karnataka takes stringent action against this company which ha been flouting norms for over 20 years.

If they are releasing the effluents stealthily then closure notice should be issued to Ruchi Gold. Such industries should not remain in business who flout the rules and cause damage to the environment.

such offenders are never brought to book as they pay hefty hafta to the concerned environmental and pollution board officials...it is really funny that at one end feku is going for world environmental protection functions and on other this kind of heinous crimes are committed without any fear.

BJP and environment doesn't go together if money is involved. Aarey forest is cut in Mumbai which was cancelled by Uddhav. In Chattisgarh 2.5 lakhs trees were cut which was traditional tribal forest to facilitate Adani to mine coal, which was enabled by ED raid on Chattisgarh CM, now no investigation on him.

More than 95 out of 100 industries in the country indulge in this practice. All PCBs and most of their officers are happy to offer a complete blind eye in return for bribes.

Extremely disturbed with this news. Disturbed more because of the silence of the elected representatives and arrogance of these companies. Citizens need to protest against companies and also those who are blind to this crime. Stop using this oil.
