Mangaluru: Police raid traditional rooster fight gambling, take two into custody

Mangaluru, May 31: Ullal station police raided a place where gambling on the victory of fighting roosters was underway and took into custody two accused and the cash used in the gambling.

Ravi from Devipur and other people were gambling betting with cash on the empty spot behind Devipura Durgaparameshwari temple, Talapady. The police who had received information about it raided the place. They confiscated the cash, roosters and took two accused into custody.

The traditional gambling is being conducted near the temple till the monsoon for some time. There was a rule that there should be no gambling and commotion in the vicinity. However, people have started arriving from Kerala Karnataka border in bikes and luxury cars for rooster fight gambling. Locals are hoping that the sport may continue without gambling.
