Kundapur: Two including lecturer meet watery grave while swimming in pond

Kundapur, May 30: Two including lecturer of Mother Theresa College in Shankaranarayana, who went to swim in the pond near Kandavar dumping yard at Ulluru Kadinakonda of Kandavara village met watery grave.

Rajendra Shettigara (28), lecturer of Mother Theresa college of Shankaranarayana and Bharath Shettigara (15), student of Shankaranarayana high school are the unfortunate victims of this tragedy.

Six people went to swim in the four-acre large Bobbarya Koodlu pond in which the water is flown from Varahi irrigation project. The water was 10 feet deep. Bharath lost balance and fell into the pond. Rajendra, who saw Bharath drowning jumped into the pond. Both did not know swimming and died.

Bharath had come to his mother’s house on vacation. A multi-talented Rajendra had served as a lecturer at a private in Mangaluru and recently joined Mother Theresa College in Shankaranarayana.

Fire service personnel arrived and retrieved the mortal remains. A case in this connection is registered at Kandloor police station.
