Chhattisgarh Police Chief Shifted Out


Raipur, July 12 (IANS): In a surprise decision, Chhattisgarh government shifted out Director General of Police (DGP) Vishwa Ranjan late Tuesday and replaced him by Anil Navaney, official sources said.

Vishwa Ranjan who took over charge of police of India's worst Maoist insurgency-affected state in July 2007, has been appointed as director general (DG), Home Guards.

The decision to replace Vishwa Ranjan who is set to retire in March next year, has stumped top police officials here.

The sources added that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government's decision to replace Ranjan came when he was on leave.
