Dubai, Jul 9: Members of Kodagu Dakshina Kannada Gowda Samaja Dubai conducted a successful blood donation campaign at Al Wasl Hospital here on Friday July 8 from 1.30 to 4 pm.

A large number of people including prominent members of other associations volunteered to donate blood.

With the blood donation camp, Kodagu Dakshina Kannada Gowda Samaja Dubai (KDKGSD) proved itself to be one among those few volunteer associations who conduct regular blood donation campaigns every year in this part of the world. It's all about developing ‘rakhta sambandha’ with UAE.

Members along with hospital authorities were busy welcoming donors and filling up the required forms, examining blood samples and getting ready for the extraction of blood all with smiles on their face. They were issued a ‘Donor Card’ exclusively as a proof of their support.

Some of the other patriotic associations who have been willingly doing these types of blood donation campaigns are Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Mogaveers UAE, Amchigele Samaj UAE, Ramarajya Khsatriya Sangha UAE and Padmashali UAE who have recorded their names in the list of blood donors of India in UAE. Today KDKGSD is also enrolled in this list and has made India proud with its successful programme.

KDKGSD blood donation campaign was given a boost with the support and participation of some of the prominent leaders like the ex-president of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Ganesh Rai, vice-president of Mogaveers UAE, Bala Salian, president of Padmashali UAE, Ravi B Shettigar and Karnataka Sangha Dubai's Satish Shetty and Satish Venkataramana who is also the managing director of Chilly Willy Trading and who provided loads of gift hampers from Chilly Willy to all the donors.

Prominent businesswoman of Karnataka Dr Rashmi Nandakishore of Riva International Spa distributed gift vouchers to all the participants as part of her contribution to society.  Ganesh Srinivas of Index Technical Works wholeheartedly sponsored with cash donation in appreciation of the deeds while Al Tunkaya provided refreshment, SSI Trading provided Sparkle Mineral Water and Gulf International supplied eatables to all the donors as a mark of appreciation.

KDKGSD president, Ganesh Prasad Achhandi and the committee members thanked all the sponsors, supporters, donors, members and the media for their active participation.
