Dubai: Shopping Centres to Remain Open till Midnight

Daijiworld Media Network

Dubai, July 2:  In an attempt to increase sales and help people shop at night, shopping centres here will remain open till midnight from this month onwards.

The step is likely to boost the emirate's retail industry, according to the Dubai Department of Economic Development.

Shopping centres will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 12 midnight, seven days a week while restaurants inside the centres may stay open to 1.00 a.m. at least and even extend for extra hours if needed.

Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment Laila Bint Suhail said the move would help increase sales of retailers and provide shoppers more fun time at the centres.

There is no additional sales done during the extended hours. This rule is only to harass the sales staff and burden the retailer with the electricity charges, etc. After 10.00pm you will find not find a genuine buyer in the Mall. 10.00 pm rule should be optional.
