Mumbai: Monorail Bridge Collapses - Two Dead

Mumbai, Jul 1: At least two labourers were killed and five injured at Chembur, Vashinaka at the monorail construction site after a slab collapsed on Friday July 1 afternoon.

The construction work on monorail, the ambitious project of Maharastra was started in early January 2009. Once constructed, the 20-km long monorail on the Chembur-Wadala-Jacob Circle stretch will be the second longest monorail after Japan's Osaka Corridor.

The injured have been shifted to Rajawadi hospital.

"The support beam used in the construction of the bridge collapsed this evening, leaving four persons injured," a fire brigade official told the media.
