Lucknow, Mar 26 (IANS): The anti-corruption branch of the CBI has booked a lab assistant in Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow, for allegeldy amassing disproportionate assets.

The CBI said that the accused, Ram Ujagir, who worked as a lab assistant in the department of scientific and industrial research lab of CIMAP, acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The agency said that a complaint was received in this connection by administrative officer of CIMAP, Naresh Kumar, alleging that accused Ujagir lab assistant had amassed huge movable and immovable assets in his name as well as his family members from 1987 to 2018 to the tune of Rs 59 lakh.

According to the records shared by the officer of the accused lab assistant, Ujagir earned Rs 199 per month in 1984.

In 1996, he started earning Rs 3,040, and in 2006, he got Rs 11,410 while in 2020, his salary rose to Rs 46,800.

Even his wife Champa Devi has property registered in her name worth around Rs 24 lakh, while elder son Prashant Arya has property worth around Rs 14 lakh, and younger son Vishal Arya worth Rs 14 lakh.

The CBI said that the allegations levelled by the administrative officer have prima facie been found to be true and therefore, an FIR under the charges of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged against accused lab assistant Ram Ujagir and his wife Champa Devi.
