Scorching heat: Students in Udupi banned from playing outside from 11 am to 3 pm

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Mar 16: With the rising temperatures in coastal Karnataka, the Udupi district administration and education department has issued precautionary measures to be followed by the schools for the children.

As per the circular, children are banned from playing in outdoor grounds between 11 am to 3 pm. Students are advised to drink more water and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

The department of public instruction has issued these directions through the BEOs of the district to all the schools. School heads, teachers and parents are advised to make arrangements for providing proper drinking water facilities for school children.

As the examinations are already underway, it becomes most important for keeping children hydrated. Mid-day meal staff are advised to make facilities for proper ventilation during the preparation of mid-day meals.

The department has also asked the schools to file a report about the measures taken.

School heads, teachers and parents are advised to make arrangements for providing proper drinking water facilities for school children - Respected department should inspect this in Udupi schools as there are lot of complaints saying the water filters in the schools are not clean & insects inside the filters.

Most places are getting water through tankers; who is keeping track of the source of the water? Is it analysed? Is it purified using a decent purification system? I don't think anyone is bothered about these important issues!

Fortunately today all educational institutions have water filters. Thank God we survived drinking unfiltered tap water during our school days.

Right decision... Dehydration is a major problem if not attended in time.... When the sun is most fierce it is advisable to stay indoors....
