200 Football Fans Detained in Moscow


Moscow, June 19 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Around 200 football fans were detained in Moscow Saturday night due to "various violations" during a match between two local clubs, police said Sunday.

The violations took place during the match between Lokomotiv and Spartak Moscow.

"There were no serious incidents during the match, but some 200 fans were detained for various violations. They are mainly young people, who were drunk," a police spokesman said.

He said over 2,000 policemen - including 240 special task officers - were providing security during the match at the Lokomotiv stadium in the north of Moscow.

Spartak Moscow defeated Lokomotiv 2-0.
