Udupi: Two women natives of district die in Mecca

Udupi, Mar 12: Two women natives of the district, who went to Mecca – Madina, the holy land of the Muslims, to conduct Umrah, died of illness on March 9 and 11.

As many as 23 women and 11 men had left from Mangaluru through a travel agency to Mecca for Umrah pilgrimage.

The team completed Umrah and was about to leave for Madina. During this period, Mariamma (66), resident of Madhuvana Achladi of Brahmavar taluk died of heart attack at 5 am IST on March 9.

On March 11, Mariamma’s friend Khatijamma (68), also a resident of Achladi died at around 3 pm IST due to ill health.

Both women were relatives. It is learnt that mortal remains of both were buried in Mecca.
