Udupi, Mar 8: Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat has termed Mithun Rai’s claim that a Muslim ruler had donated land for Krishna Math as false. The MLA said that any Muslim ruler did not donate land for Krishna Math or for Anantheshwara.

He said, “There is a document that Ramabhoja had donated land for Anantheshwara temple. The land was used for Krishna Math later.”

“It is said that the current Jamia mosque was on the land of Janga Math. The Mother of Sorrows Church is on a land leased by the Krishna Math. Udupi is well known for harmony.

“Jangamara Math had donated land to construct a mosque for Muslims. The Krishnapur Math had donated land to the Christian community to construct a church. The help by Haji Abdulla for Krishna Math as a devotee is documented. I do not know which Muslim ruler Muthun Rai is talking about.

“Madhwacharya established Krishna Math 850 years ago. Let Mithun Rai think about the condition of Ayodhya. The people in the country know about Krishna mandir in Mathura and Kashi. The temples are becoming free one by one now,” he said.
