Udupi: Zilla panchayat gets polling booths painted to attract voters

Udupi, Mar 8: The zilla panchayat here has got polling booths painted in attractive colours to attract voters. The election commission at the centre has called on to celebrate Election Day like a festival. There are plans to portray the 1111 voting booths in the district with pictures of traditional art, culture and glory. The booths are being decorated likewise.

Five booths of Hanumanthnagar were decorated by more than 30 drawing teachers recently. The drawing teachers from the government and private schools have completed the work with dedication without expecting anything in return.

“Every vote is decisive to elect a good representative. District SVEEP committee is creating awareness about elections by novel programmes. The drawing teachers in the district are cooperating towards the efforts,” said panchayat chief executive Prasanna H.

    Good gesture by authorities... Of course it is a festival day... Comes once in 5 years and rest of the time it is mostly Ekadashi for voters.... Whoever wins will vanish most of the times and resurface when the next festival date nears....
