Manama: Three Bahraini Women Detained for Ruckus in UN Office


Manama, June 16 (IANS) Three Bahraini women, who entered the UN office and refused to leave, were detained by police here Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

The women identified as - Zainab Al Khawaja, Sawsan Jawad and Asma Darwish - were demanding the release of their family members detained by security authorities as part of the crackdown against anti- government protesters, said sources.

The Director General of the Capital governorate police said in a statement that they received a tip off from the UN office that three women entered the building after the official working hours and refused to leave when asked by officials.

A case has been filed against the three women who will face legal action, the official said.
