Mumbai, Jun 13: Under the aegis of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Maharashtra, the metro based Karnataka Sangh and Mumbai University department of Kannada, the fourth Kannada literary and cultural Convention was inaugurated at Karnataka Sangh auditorium, here on Saturday June 11.

The veteran Kannada litterateur and entrepreneur U Venkataraj Rao inaugurated the Convention here on Saturday.

Venkataraj in his inaugural address said that the culture has great significance in the society, hence the need to strive for its sustenance. Many forms of art in culture are gradually going extinct and the revival of culture is possible by inventing other forms and introduce them in drama, Yakshagana, dance and music, said Venkataraj.

The renowned litterateur and scholar Dr K Raghunat Dombivli presided.

Venkataraj felicitated Kannada Sahitya Parishad Maharashtra president H B L Rao on the occasion.

Kannada Sahitya Parishad Uttar Kannada district president Rohidas Nayak released Kannada translated spiritual book - Vishwaprajneya Udaya, by Dr Suma Dwarakanath from the original English book by Prajna Prabhat.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat Shimoga president D Manjunath released Kannada book Mumbai Midita.

Karnataka Sangh women wing president Susheela Devadiga sang the welcome song.  Karnataka Sangh president Dr G D Joshi welcomed the gathering. H B L Rao delivered the introductory address.  Amita Bhagawat compered the programme.
