Mumbai: Demand to Rename Dadar Could Figure in NCP Convention

Mumbai, Jun 9 (PTI) NCP today said that the issue of renaming Dadar railway station after a memorial of B R Ambedkar may figure in its convention but the meet on June 10 will not be held for this purpose only.

Ever since a media report said that NCP may pass a resolution seeking renaming of Dadar station to Chaityabhoomi (Ambedkar memorial) at the convention, prominent parties have joined the debate, with Raj Thackeray's MNS opposing the idea.

NCP spokesman Madan Bafna today said the demand to rename Dadar as Chaityabhoomi station could figure in a 'charter' that would be presented during the 'Samajik Hakk Parishad', the NCP convention.

Bafna, however, said that the sole purpose of the convention was not to discuss the renaming of the Dadar station.
