It was early June 1973. I had appeared for B.Ed. Exam n had gone to Bangalore. I approached Fr..D'Mellow who was Rector of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to see if he coul recommend me to any of the Schools. He immediately wrote a request to Fr.Ignatius Pinto who at that time was Principal of St Aloysius High School. Upon meeting hom he said , no vacancy but he directed me to Fr. Joseph D'Silva who had started Maria Niketan High school a year back n said he will take up this matter with n yes when I met Fr.Joseph he asked me to immediately join the school the next day and I had the opportunity to serve this school until 1976. When he was nominated to be the Bishop of the newly established Shimoga Diocese I was filled eith joy n the Cathedral he he nuilt is a monument of his Bishopric. Arch Diocese of Bangalore too has benefitted from his dedicated m meritorious services.May Jesus Most Merciful and Divine Saviour take him in his bosom n reward him rightly for his Shepherdic Ministry.

Great person he was. As a young boy of 9 years I had attended his First Mass in Infant Jesus Church, Modankap, Bantwal. Last I had met him was a couple of years ago. in Bangalore. Two of his sisters were my teachers in Bantwal. As an alter boy, I had attended the funeral service of his parents in Bantwal. He was very happy to know these facts from me. May His Soul Rest In Peace.
