Former cricketer Vinod Kambli accused of assaulting wife, FIR lodged

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 5: Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been accused of abusing and accusing his wife in a drunken state at home in the Bandra suburbs.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday. Kambli has not been arrested so far but the Mumbai police have registered an FIR, it is said.

Kambli's wife Andrea has alleged in a police complaint that he threw the handle of a cooking pan at her causing her a head injury, according to sources in Bandra police station.

The incident is said to have occurred between 1 pm and 1.30 pm on Friday after Kambli allegedly reached his flat in an inebriated state and abused his wife.

Though the couple's 12-year-old son tried to intervene in the fight, Kambli entered the kitchen, picked the handle of a broken frying pan and allegedly flung it at his wife, causing her injury, according to the complaint.

Kambli's wife later underwent a medical examination at Bhabha Hospital.

Based on her complaint, the Bandra police have registered the FIR against Kambli under Indian Penal Code Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), an official from the police station said.

Further investigations are in progress.

Money is the source of all problem! If you have wealth then you will be loved unconditionally by the family, relatives & the society, even if you get drunk , puke, shout - no problem. Problem comes when you are not wealthy & powerful - then every one start asking questions & the fight starts!!! Since Former cricketer Kambli is a good fielder, there is no chance that his aim of cooking pan missed to hit his wife's head!
