Jeddah, Jun 7: Indian Fraternity Forum (IFF) organised a sports meet at Abdul Aziz ground here recently. Many athletes, hailing from different districts of Karnataka, currently living in Mecca and Jeddah participated in this spectacular event.

The sports meet included track and field events and games such as tug of war, sack race, 4x100 metre relay, 100 metre, 200 metre, 400 metre and 1500 metre races and so on.

A large crowd witnessed the inauguration ceremony. IFF Jeddah coordinator Ashraf Murayaoor of Kerala declared the meet open. He emphasized the importance of exercise and games in maintaining the health of expatriates and importance of a healthy body in Islam, as a very valuable asset for the nation and community in general and the individual in particular.

Rahman Omar, manager of Panda Hypermarkets, IFF sports coordinator Shamshuddin, distributed prizes to winners and participants of the event.

Nadeem Haleyangadi coordinated the meet and Mudasar Akkarangadi delivered the welcome speech and Hussain Jokatte conveyed the vote of thanks.

Winners of various events will proceed to the IFF Inter-state Sports Meet-2011 for Jeddah region, which is scheduled to be held this month.
