Karnataka Congress to exhibit controversial BBC documentary on Modi

Mysuru, Jan 31 (IANS): Karnataka Congress stated on Tuesday that it will screen the banned BBC documentary, 'India: The Modi Question' in the premises of its office in Mysuru city.

Speaking to reporters, KPCC Spokesperson M. Lakshman stated that "BBC has thrown light on the truth. BJP leaders themselves have been beating their chests that Modi had given directions to kill Muslims."

"Like 'Kashmir Files', this documentary should be exhibited all over the country. I request people of the country to watch the documentary. One should watch the documentary and learn about the dark face of PM Modi," he said.

BBC is an important British organisation, it will work without coming under the influence of anyone, Lakshman stated.

Training his guns on BJP MLA and former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, Lakshman further charged that Jarkiholi and his gang had shot an excise inspector Ingalage in 1988. "The inspector was shot with an AK-47 rifle," he stated.

He further alleged that in 1994 also murders were carried out in the Government Mill of Gokak in the leadership of Ramesh Jarkiholi. He charged that people were supposed to take consent from the Jarkiholi family for purchase or sale of property worth more than Rs 35 lakh.

Lakshman stated that if the people sold properties without getting the consent, they would face atrocity and rape cases. They have filed such cases on 300 common men. Ramesh Jarkiholi used to sell hooch earlier, he alleged.

Lakshman had questioned Ramesh Jarkiholi about the purchase of a new Mercedes car worth Rs 4 crore 20 days ago and asked him how he can make the purchase being under loss? He also claimed that Ramesh Jarkiholi is building a new house at a cost of Rs 30 crore.

Jarkiholi had attacked Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, saying that when Shivakumar met him for the first time, he was in torn slippers and later went on to mint thousands of crores through corruption.

Lakshman challenged that let the investigation be conducted on the properties of Shivakumar and Ramesh Jarkiholi by any central agency.

I saw the documentary. It shows Modi as an aggressive, nationalist leader. Modis interviews with prominent Brit Journalist is appreciated by all. The way he balantly said 'Who are Britishers to involve in our internal matters?' . 'You Britishers do not preach us human rights!' . All these statements send shivers. Moreover shocking is, Modi speaks fluent English, I never knew that. Like some said here, its a big trap will do more good than harm to BJP. Congress will be accused of not trusting our internal systems and taking external support for internal matters!

Then UPA 1 in association with several dubious NGOs had tried hard to frame Modi by hoisting numerable fake cases. But SC of India had studied cases and provided verdict. This means Congress does not believe in law of land, but believes foreign hand only

There are hundreds of governance issues to raise, but Congress wants to attack Modi and waste limited resources on something which is going to backfire badly. Congress was in power in Delhi for 10 years since 2014 and they could not do anything to dent his image then. Important state elections are due now and Congress is nicely and predictably walking into the trap like it has always done in the past. Either they are out of ideas or have totally given up on coming back to power in 2024. I guess, Congresss will have hope once Modi retires.

Cannot agree more. The opposition is walking into a biggest trap. The timing of the release after 20 eventful years, is also very intriguing. It's not about being anti Modi. It's about malicious attempts from abroad indulging in propaganda to discredit a political entity in India in contradiction of the verdict of the highest court of India. It amounts to interference, leads to internal unrest, and that too from an organization that had no stakes in the subject matter. Thats the problem,!

Sad to see party workers from Congress, BJP and JDS involving themselves in meaningless activities when they should be working for the benefit of the country. Whom does such divisive politics serve? Only the anti-national forces. Muslims and Hindus have moved on after Godhra. They want to live in peace and harmony. Congress are just making the situation worse.

If BJP govt says love-Jihad is more important than any development then what is controversial in BBC documentary????!!!!!……..The army, security and law and order personnel were waiting at Gujrat border for days for Modi govt orders to enter to maintain peace during this 2002 Godhra caniege. But Modi govt did not give the permission to enter but let the violence flare more and more for days. Modi should answer this well documented fact in records and SC should reconsider this to revert clean chit to Modi.
