Ajman: Gulf Medical University Signs MOU with IIHMR, Jaipur

Ajman, May 31: The Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Jaipur, India, a premiere health management research institution celebrated the conferment of the postgraduate diploma in hospital and health management and postgraduate diploma in pharmaceutical management recently.

Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Gulf Medical University, Ajman, was the guest of honour. He congratulated the students who graduated from the institution of high stature. Moideen’s speech was received with a big applause by the students.

Chief guest of the evening Dr Jitendra Singh, cabinet minister for energy, higher education and information technology, government of Rajasthan along with the other high ranking officials of the University also graced the occasion.

Since its inception in the year 1984, IIHMR apart from being one of the oldest, currently ranks as number one university in the country in healthcare management and research programmes. On the eve of the conferment programme, Gulf Medical University signed a memorandum of understanding with IIHMR to jointly start an executive programme in healthcare management.

The MOU was signed by Thumbay Moideen and M L Mehta, trustee secretary of IIHMR in the presence of Dr Ashok Agarwal, proprietor of IIHMR, Dr S D Gupta, director of IIHMR, and other officials representing GMU and IIHMR.

The 10-month programme is due to begin in GMU in January 2012. Moideen said, "This MOU comes as part of our commitment to work closely with professional and reputable institutions to provide quality education in healthcare management to our students and the community at large,".

He also added, "One of the foremost reasons for Gulf Medical University to collaborate with IIHMR is because of the high reputation it commands not only in India but even abroad, and secondly being selective and without any doubt, we do not see anything more appropriate beyond IIHMR to create our own significant hospital management team. And it is my firm belief that with the steadfast support and healthy collaboration with IIHMR, our institution will surge ahead to become a milestone in United Arab Emirates in imparting the best healthcare management education."
