Dubai Worker Arrested for Botched Acid Attack in India

Dubai, May 31 (PTI) A construction worker in Dubai, who was on the run for four months after allegedly carrying out a botched acid attack, has been arrested in India on his return to his hometown, a news report here has said.

Police in India say, Jaspreet Singh was lured to Punjab by a Sri Lankan woman (his cousin's wife) who offered him the "equivalent of a year's wages", in addition to Rs 100,000 and a job in France for taking revenge on her Indian husband's girlfriend.

Singh, however, threw acid in the face of the wrong woman who was working in a Punjab hospital in January and returned to Dubai, Emirates 24/7 reported.

Apparently his target worked in the same hospital and he got the wrong girl.

The victim's face is said to be completely disfigured.

Singh returned to India last week and was arrested on Saturday from his house.
