Mumbai: Maha Govt to Involve Legislators in AIDS Programme

Mumbai, May 26 (PTI) Maharashtra government will involve elected representatives to strengthen its campaign to create AIDS awareness in the state, health department officials said today.

Legislators will undergo training sessions and workshops for the campaign to be carried out in their respective constituencies, they said.

Apart from the legislators, Zilla Parishad and panchayat samiti members will also be involved so that the anti-AIDS and awareness campaign reaches the grassroots.

An action plan will be prepared by AIDS Forum, to be set up in Vidhan Bhavan. A two member team will function at the forum office and will co-ordinate with the legislators during the Legislature session, they said.

Workshops and training camps for them will be organised during the session itself, they said.

AIDS Forum, is an initiative of UNAIDS, the United Nations programme of AIDS control and prevention.
