Maha Govt Stays Tender Process for Mid-day Meal Scheme

Mumbai, May 24 (PTI) After realising that the contract for the supply of mid-day meal material to urban schools has already been given to women's organisations, the state government said the tender process which it had started to this effect has now been stayed.

"The state government had invited expression of interest for the supply of material for the mid day meal scheme to the schools in urban areas. However, several elected representatives as well as women's organisations brought it to our notice that the contract for that has already been given to women's organisations for a period of three years," Minister for Education Rajendra Darda told reporters today.

The BMC had already entered into a three-year contract with women organisation, he added.
