Mumbai: Cops Crack Murder Case After 20 Years


Mumbai, May 23 (PTI): The city police today claimed to have solved a twenty years old murder case after a Uttar Pradesh-based supplier of firearms, who was arrested 10 days back, confessed to his role in the crime.

According to police, the accused Afroz Khan, a native of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly murdered his colleague Zuber Khan in February 1991 while working in Roshan Bakery in Kandivali of Mumbai following a heated argument.

"On May 13, Afroz, working for UP-based Aslam gang, was arrested after a tip-off that he was arriving near Raghuleela Mall to deliver firearms to a local gang. Seven firearms were seized from him after which he was charged under relevant sections of Arms Act," Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said.

During interrogation, Afroz confessed to have killed his colleague in 1991, he said adding that "the culprit fled from the city after committing the crime".
