Mumbai: ‘Brahmakalashotsav’ Begins at Umamaheshwari Temple

Mumbai, May 23: Week-long religious celebrations began at Umamaheshwari temple, Jerimeri, Andheri (East), on Friday May 20, as part of the re-installation ceremony of the deity Umamaheshwari and the temple’s ‘Brahmakalashotsav’.

Vedic rituals were held under the guidance of Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple priest Laxminarayan Asranna and Umamaheshwari temple managing trustee B K Sheena, led by Vedamurti Jarkala Narayan Tantri and performed by chief priest Srinivas S Udupa.



Temple trustees Lalita B Sheena, Nikita B Sheena, Rajesh Rao, R L Bhat, Srinivas Jokatte, and Raj Bhat were present.

A Yakshagana play was staged on Saturday May 21 by the artistes of Guru Narayana Yakshagana Mandali, Santa Cruz.

A religious discourse will be held at the temple premises on Wednesday May 25.

Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejavar Mutt, Udupi, Swami Niranjan of Sunkadakatte Ambica Annapoorneshwari temple and Satrasta Mahalaxmi temple, Swami Suvarna Baba of Mahashesha Rundamalini temple Panchakuteera Powai, will deliver religious discourses on the occasion.
All India Billava Federation president Jaya C Suvarna, Bombay South Kanara Brahmins’ Association (BSKBA) president Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, and Bunts Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty will be the chief guests on the occasion.

Temple managing trustee B K Sheena urged devotees from across the metro to participate in the religious programmes.
