New Internal Television Network for Inmates in Dubai


Dubai, May 22 (PTI) Dubai's Central Prison has launched an internal TV network that will offer entertainment and educational programmes to the inmates.

This will be the first prison in the Gulf region to broadcast general programming for 18 hours a day with the rest of the hours featuring content related to inmate services.

The service was launched by Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, Deputy Commander In-Chief of Dubai Police.

Speaking on the occasion Maj Gen Al Mazeina said that the police are seeking to adopt international standards in prisoner care and to improve the quality of services provided to them.

"We encourage the rehabilitation of inmates through different programmes. We also promote an environment where creativity can thrive and thus inspire them to preserve during their incarceration period. Also this will help in their rehabilitation process and allow them to return to society as productive individuals.
