Bengaluru, Dec 1: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who is also heading the Skills Development and IT/BT portfolios, launched the Skill Connect Portal and signed agreements with five companies for job creation.

With the launch of the Skill Connect Portal and signing of agreements with five companies for job creation, the minister began the Sushashan Month to mark the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in Bengaluru on Thursday.

He also released the Sankalp documents to outline the various initiatives taken by the Departments under him.

“Sushashan or good governance is not an observation confined to just a single day or a month but a drive to be carried out round the year,” he said pointing out that all government services must be taken to the doorsteps of the citizens in a people-friendly and transparent manner.

Dr Narayan said quality education was of vital importance to achieve the goal of Sushashan or good governance and explained that the Modi government’s emphasis on implementation of National Education Policy was part of the drive.

The minister urged all universities to continue the efforts on digital learning and ensure that all them are registered in the Academic Bank of Credit and strive to sign agreements with at least five companies in the next three months.

He said Microsoft has agreed to provide excellent training to 60,000 ITI students.

Higher Education Department Principal Secretary Rashmi Mahesh, Skills Development Department Principal Secretary Selva Kumar and Collegiate and Technical Education Department Commissioner P Prabhakar spoke.
