Puttur: Inter-faith couple apply for marriage, right-wing groups suspect 'love jihad'

Puttur, Nov 22 (IANS): Right-wingorganisations have raised objections to an interfaith couple applying for marriage at a sub-registrar's office here, suspecting it to be a "love jihad" case.

The incident came to light after the office of registrar invited objections, if any, to the marriage as part of the normal procedure. It had given 30 days' time to register disapproval.

According to sources, the girl is a resident of Darbe near Puttur town in Dakshina Kannada and she is currently staying in Bengaluru. The man is 44-year-old Sheik Mohammad Saleem, a resident of Nyapanahalli in Bengaluru. Both had applied for marriage at a sub-registrar's office.

The development has raised concerns and there is no statement by the police as well as the parents of the girl.

Parents are unable to control their children nowadays due to unconditional love showered on them. Children draw their own decisions and get trapped earlier. Time has come to reintroduce child marriage as happened earlier and undivided joint families alone can help for stronger society. Aadhar card is issued for every individual. Govt.must pass bills to have only two children per couple and divorce cases come up after having 2 children. Once the couple gets divorced they must be made ineligible to consecutive marriages thereafter . Population, divorce cases is controlled by the act.

So sad part of our Country. Youth are kept busy in things which are not going to impact future generations to come. All other countries buy in exploring metaverse, blockchain, digital twins, AI, Sustainable energy , Global Warming etc. Other countries investing on their people with knowledge all the youth and future generation needs. Our country our leaders busy in constructing statues, deciding what to eat , who can marry whom, who can love which person, cow politics etc. We must look at chaina where we heading if we compare them, Until we get out from this mindset our country will never progress and our grand children may need to go to other countries even for eating three times food. We need leaders who are futuristic thinking , who can employer our generations with good knowledge where they have ability use own brain rather than using some politicians mind!

Who are these right-wing groups to decide who should marry whom? Do they have any constitutional or legal rights to interfere? Once a person has become major, doesn't he/she have the right to decide who he/she wants to marry? The law of the land and constitution provides every person rights in every domain of life as appropriate. Who are these people to interfere in the affairs of the State? These are cheap publicity stunts (PR exercises, if we speak in gentleman's language) to keep themselves relevant. Shame on these people.

Have the decency of talking to the point. We are talking about marriage between two people, not bombs. And as for that last sentence, if someone decides to marry a particular person, it is futile to bar them from doing so because it can spark a series of untoward incidents, which will ruin several families. After all, it is their life, let them decide how they want to live, why should anyone interfere into another person's affairs?

No need to fire in all directions merely due to call for objections by authority. This is due process to call for objections & all sides are heard. Once it is made sure there is no coersion, undue influence force blackmail and no provisions of old as well as recent new law green signal may be given. If u go to any registration office since time immemorial one would see such notices on notice boards. Chill cheers

I agree that there are many issues happening now after interfaith marriage. Some are misusing for personal benifits. But this RSS and BD do not have rights to stop if the girls parents have no objection. Also these BD, RSS should stop Hindu boys getting married with other faith girls.

Tauro, you first anser this question and then talk about others. Can a Christain girl marry and change her identity? We will never allow, Church cannot accept then why cry about others. In Kerala, Bishops are opposing this trend of Jihad and same will happen here.

It’s part of process, not a private info. The register marriage request is published in noticeboard of register office/ Villiage office for 30 days to raise any objections or to ensure the persons involved aren’t married before and having any chances of dispute.

much ado about nothing. If the couple wants to marry under civil law, they have to comply with the procedure. 30 days are given to raise objections - any objections - by anyone - especially to ensure that the parties do not have a living spouse or, under the present Karnataka law, it is not a "forced" marriage, e.g. love jihad. If the couple wants to go through a religious ceremony of marriage, they have to comply with the religious laws. In Christianity, for instance, the church publishes, or announces, "banns" (cheet, notice) for two or three weeks. calling upon anyone who has objection to inform the church otherwise forever to shut their mouth!Where are the parents of the woman? Perhaps they are dead, and she is an orphan!

Dear Brothers, if u r objecting Muslims or Christians getting married to Hindus then Object Hindus also getting married to Muslim or Christians girls even that is Inter-Faith.. Only Hindus getting married to Muslim or Christian girls means that is also Forcefull conversion bcoz Bajrang Dal are paying for those Hindu Boys who get married to Other Caste.
