Indian-origin teen wanted for 'shooting' Canadian student

Toronto, Nov 19 (IANS): Police in Canada are on a look-out for an Indian-origin teen who allegedly shot at an 18-year-old student outside a high school in Brampton on Friday, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, identified as Jasdeep Dhesi, 17, fled in a vehicle after the shooting, which occurred outside of Castlebrooke Secondary School at around noon.

The victim, who is a student from the school, is now listed in stable but life-threatening condition, police said.

The shooting, according to police investigators, occurred outside in the back parking lot of the school, and is believed to have been targeted, local news channels reported.

"Police were called to the scene and are investigating. The student has been taken to hospital. At this time, we do not have any other information to share," the Peel District School Board said in a statement.

"Castlebrooke Secondary School staff and school board staff are working closely with Peel Regional Police on the investigation."

The police obtained a judicial authorisation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to release the suspect's name and photo, the CP24 news channel reported.

Police described Jasdeep as a "South Asian with a light complexion. He has a thin build, stands approximately five-foot-nine and weighs around 176 pounds".

"He has short, wavy brown hair and was last seen wearing dark-coloured pants, a dark t-shirt, and a puffy blue winter jacket," investigators said.

They added that Dhesi is believed to be armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him should contact police rather than approach or interact with him. There is no description so far of the vehicle in which Dhesi fled.

"Our officers are currently in the area investigating, talking to witnesses, working closely with the school board and the members who are trying to figure out what exactly transpired," Constable Mandeep Khatra told CP24. He has requested witnesses with cellphone or dashcam footage of the incident to contact the police.

Canada, in particular Toronto and surrounding area is becoming a third world country per some of the info that I got from my friends back in Toronto. There are more burka clad (full cover except for eyes) ladies (you will not see that many even in Dubai) with 5-6 kids all around, crossing roads at the wrong places with zero regard to discipline. Once pristine surroundings and roads are littered with dirt, tissues, plastic etc. Even the subways are dirtier! Brampton-Malton seems to be the breeding ground for fighting with swords between Indian Hindu's and Sikhs. During Diwali, crackers were burst everywhere (not banned) but they never cleaned the area after bursting! Unfortunately, no action is taken by current regime due to vote bank politics of one of the worst PM in the history of Canada. Many Pakis and Punjabis (non-Sikh) and blacks are caught in drugs, car-jacking in thousands, many of those are snatched from the drivers on broad day light. Lots of young Punjabi's have committed suicide due to difficulty in managing finances as these came through back door cheating. But for some reason, none of this comes on any local news - just like Indian Godi media.
