‘Rs 2 lac crore investments received for renewable energy’, says CM in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai said, “Rs 2 lac crore investments have come for renewable energy, hydrogen fuel and production of ammonia from sea water.”

He was speaking at the Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday November 19. He was in the city to unveil the statue of Kedambadi Ramaiah Gowda at Tagore Park, Bavutagudda.

He said, “During the Global Investors Meet in Bengaluru, Rs 2 lac crore investments were received for renewable energy, hydrogen fuel and production of ammonia from sea water. The preparation has been done for the infrastructure and land required for the project is ready. The clearance has been given to 3 renewable energy companies during the state high level committee meeting and 2-3 companies have already decided to take up work during March-April. The project of hydrogen fuel and production of ammonium from sea water will come up in international level.

“The unit for producing ammonium from sea water will come up near Mangaluru. Even the power required for renewable energy plant will be generated from solar and wind mills. This will be a green project to produce green energy. The project will generate employment.

“A decision will be taken next week over the restoration of Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway. I will meet union minister Nitin Gadkari next week and a meeting will be conducted pertaining to national highways. Restoration works of Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway will be taken up on priority basis which includes tunnel work and white tapping,” he said.

Regarding revision of voters’ list, he said, “It is the process of Election Commission to revise the voters’ list.”

When asked about the opposition’s demand on probe by a sitting judge over voter data theft, he said, “They have constantly demanded a sitting judge inquiry for everything. When they were in tenure, a sitting judge probe helped them to escape from BDA scam. Police are probing into the issue and will take further action on it.”

Bommai was accompanied by Mangaluru north MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Mangaluru south MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Sullia MLA S Angara, district BJP president Sudarshan Moodbidri, mayor Jayanand Anchan, deputy commissioner Ravi Kumar M R, zilla panchayat CEO Dr Kumar, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, assistant commissioner Madan Mohan and others.
