Mumbai: CII to Train 50,000 Youths in 2011-12


Mumbai, May 12 (IANS) The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has set a target of training 50,000 youths from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, its president, B. Muthuraman, said here Wednesday.

"Around 50,000 youth from the Scheduled Castes and Schedules Tribes would be trained and an equal number of employments would be facilitated in the year 2011-12," Muthuraman said while addressing media after interacting with members of CII Western Region.

A website outlining CII members' efforts on would be started soon to communicate better with the society on the industry's efforts and initiatives.

"CII will also work closely with the Dalit Chamber of India and one of CII's goals will also include increasing sourcing of goods and services from entrepreneurs from the Scheduled Castes and Schedules Tribes by 10-20 percent," Muthuraman said.
