Doha: Qatar Talks 2022 held successfully

Doha, Oct 30: The eagerly awaited annual communication championship has yielded yet another set of champion speakers of Qatar.

In the adults inspirational speech segment, Shareef Mihlar claimed the champions title as he wove his speech around the theme belief. Aim for the success but belief is the secret ingredient that makes to happen.

The 2nd place winner, Ibtissam Khamlichi , in her trademark style , softly and smoothly warmed our hearts with her own story and inspired by her message that it can be big or small but be that hope to someone.

The 3rd place winner, Sahitya Reddy, in her speech around the theme that quitting is not an option. Affirmed herself that “I choose not to quit and not to regret”

The adults humorous champion was Tapasvi Kumar Solanki. He delivered a funny treatise on in search of heaven. Looking back on various trials and tribulations of finding a bride for his marriage the comical and entertaining Tapasvi took us on the journey of his testimony of finding a girl.

The 2nd place winner Ameena Raseen delivered her view on the contest and exams are parallel roads. She expertly dissected, the similarities between contest and exam, which connected the audience with her gesture.

The 3rd place winner, Sebastian Mascarenhas, delivered a funny treatise in his speech titled 'Oh no! not again'. His feeling after death and the reaction of his family made the audience engaged.

The juniors speech contests this year brought to us confident students with a myriad of talents. Of them, all the champions stood out.

In the humorous speech contest, Aadarsh Nair from Gems American Academy was declared the champion speaker. A funny take on Aarush’s accent story connected to the audience it gets funnier with each incident.

The 2nd place Winner, Maryam Nasir from Bright Future International School had a different take on her first time in a fancy restaurant.

The 3rd place Kevin Davis from Rajagiri Public School had nailed his personal story about worry. His speech took us into his family about their worries and made us sit through don’t worry until you have to.

In the Junior Inspirational speech contest, the Champion’s trophy was claimed by Patricia May Castelltort, from Philippine International School, who talked about a blessing is greater than riches. Particia reiterated that success is a journey, not a destination.

2nd place winner had an inspiring story to boot. Divneet Kaur Sarin from Doha British School talked about the power of reading.

The 3rd place went to Ruth Sunil Thomas from Rajagiri Public School, who come up with her personal story of stage fear. She ended her story by saying “There is no failure except in no longer trying”. 

The contests were launched in 2004, by the founder convener M.I Farid in 2004. The Qatar Talks erstwhile known as ICC ONE Communication Championships has inspired more than 2000 Qatar residents to explore their public speaking skills and has been received with much gusto throughout Qatar.

This event is an acknowledgement of the International Competent Communicator’s Social Commitment towards promoting public speaking in Qatar. Participation in the Adults category is open to all residents above 18 years of age and in the junior category, all schools are invited to send 2 participants each in both categories. Eliminations are conducted one month prior to the finale and six finalists vie for the Champions trophy.

Philip Cherian, the chief coordinator, opened the proceedings at Radisson Blu, Lornalyn T Tallod, the engaging master of ceremony navigated the championships with her vibrance and presence of mind. She was ably supported by the contest chairs, Michelle Macariag, Mahmoud Ahmad, Toqa Mahmoud Abd Al- Tawwab, Salman Essa Al- Boainain and the timing team.

At the scintillating prize distribution ceremony, the trophies and lucky draw prizes were given away by Riad Bakali of TNG School, Rajesh of Quantum Global, Davis of Global Auto Parts,  Vinod of Tawfeeq Travels and Shaqeef, Intazaar Adam co-director of Urdu Radio FM, RJ Ved – Radio FM 107, M I Farid – founder convenor and Susmita Pattnaik sponsorship coordinator, Philip Cherian -chief coordinator.

There was a complimentary lucky draw for all attendees followed by a sumptuous dinner.
