Muscat: Pulse – Completely Power-packed Talent Show

Muscat, May 3: A grand entertaining event, scintillating music, dazzling dances by more than 80 artistes and fascinating fashion show were the highlights of the evening titled “Pulse” presented, orchestrated and managed by Seema Chowdary and directed and choreographed by dance master of Oman, Dilip at the main parish hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi, recently.

As announced by the organizers, the program ‘Pulse – Dance to your heart beat’ was the combination of multiple talents for which Anil Wadhwa, the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman was the chief guest.

Smitha Shyam, well known social activist and ardent supporter of toastmasters movement in Oman presented the welcome address highlighting the features of “Pulse” – the complete talent show. Suraj Rebello, the past president of the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish and present member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church Pastoral Council was the anchor of the whole show.

Anil Wadhwa was escorted to the stage and presented floral bouquet by Seema Chowdary. Malini Shankaran and Sajini Bhavnani, the veteran members of the community were escorted to the stage by Philomena Moras and Arathi. The programme was inaugurated by the distinguished guests by lighting the traditional lamp.

Suraj Rebello presented the profile of Seema Chowdary. Seema, an athlete, a gymnast was born in Punjab and grew up in Himachal Pradesh, won many awards during her school days. She was privileged to receive an award from Padmashree P T Usha, the sprint queen of India. She has performed in dance programmes with celebrity actress Preity Zinta. Currently she is teaching dance to the children in Oman.

A well accepted professional dancer, dance master Dilip has performed many shows in India and abroad. He  is specialized in Break Dance, Hip Hop, Cinematic, Free Style, Contemporary etc and has won many prizes for Solo and Group dance performances. Choreographer of few Malayalam movies, Award Functions and Channel Shows, Dilip has a Dance Troupe called Spellbound. His dance troupe regularly performs for many events in Oman. His spectacular style and creativity has enabled his students to succeed in competitions and he trains children and adults with a lot of flair.

The programme “ Pulse” had dances by children, songs by well known singers of Muscat and also a fashion show. The first cinematic dance was performed by the Senior Group for a French song which was followed by the performance of ‘All is Well’ by a group of little children. “Joom  Barabar’ dance  by the group called Bouncers was brilliant. The Fashion Show presented in style and glamour was loved by the audience. The Moon Walk dance offering tribute to legendary MJ was presented by the group named Spell Bound. A cinematic dance Tu Sala a lively number, with non stop movements by the girls
in glittering bronze costumes, displayed their dancing prowess. A dual treat of Sheela Ki Jawani the most popular dance number and a song from Golmaal added to the colour.  Aloo Aloo by the little ones, Rock Stars, was a blend of beat, and rhythm.

Melanie Crasta and Mark led the Retros Group presented a dance of songs of the 1980s. Their Costume in White Shirts with Black Polka dots, red waist band and red neckband perfectly blended with the dance sequences.

Robot Style dance by Varun Bantwal, Runner Up in Muscat Dance Mania 2010, partnered with Dilip and Rakin and joined in by the group of dancers kept the audience spell bound.

The Sizzlers, the little ones, presented a mix of melody of fast numbers like Piya tu enthralled the audience with their perfectly synchronized expressions and steps.

Sanjana, popular singer of Muscat presented an Arabic number ‘Mafish’ melodiously. She got the audience enjoying her rendition of Allegra a fast and peppy Tamil number. Kishen Shetty from Coastal Karnataka enthralled the audience with Ninnindale, a popular song from the Kannada Superhit
film “Milana”. Praveen Suvarna, the man with a golden voice, enthralled  the dance and music lovers with a soulful number  Chand Sifarish from the Hindi Superhit film Fanaa. The sensational duo Sanjana and Praveen, sang a  beautiful  Hindi melody duet, Zoobi Doobi … from the very famous film “3
Idiots”.

An added treat was the performance of Diya Babu an actress who made her debut in the movie “Nivedhyam” and who was a student from  Indian School, Wadi Kabir, Muscat. Young Diya displayed extraordinary talent in Dance and Art forms and has won many awards. She is awaiting the release of
her latest film “Orange”. She too, is the disciple of Dilip Master.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Seema Chowdhury. She presented a floral bouquet to all the sponsors and supporters.

The main sponsors for the event were Al Aktaf Trading, and Al Hajiry and Damas Jewellery.
