Mangaluru: 'Kar Natak' Konkani drama contest in actor Late Sunil Crasta's memory

Mangaluru, Oct 4: Having lost their beloved companion and friend  Sunil Crasta, the ‘Comedy Company Mangalore’ was in deep pain and sorrow. By his inspiration  the Comedy Company Mangalore has come forward to continue one of his dream projects ‘Kar Natak’ (Act Out).

Sunil had been always vocal about the lack of substantial and qualitative social dramas in Konkani. He had also planned out a very standard ‘Konkani Samajik Natkule Spordo’ (Konkani Social Drama Competition) with the help of his companions in Comedy Company Mangalore. Unfortunately, Sunil left behind his loved ones having finished his role on earth, with his untimely demise.

The Comedy Company Mangalore with a commitment to fulfil the dream and vision of its dear companion Sunil, have come up with a brand-new Konkani Social drama competition ‘Kar Natak.’ This news was announced during the 250th Monthly Theatre at Kalangan here on October 2 in the presence of Erik Ozerio, the Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, Luie Pinto, the president of Mandd Sobhann, Melwyn Peris, the yodeling king of Konkani Music,  Titus Noronha poet and Konkani writer, Denis Monteiro, the Konkani theatre artiste and the members of Comedy Company Mangalore.

Loyd Rego, a popular Konkani poet welcomed the gathering and compered the stage program. To begin with, Denis Monteiro, one of the organizers of this competition, introduced this idea of ‘Kar Natak’ with the backdrop of lack of qualitative social drama competition in Konkani.  Eric Ozario unveiled the competition booklet and assured his whole hearted support, blessings and wishes to the organizers and the participants.  

The anchor of this competition, Titus Noronha, gave detailed information on the speciality, depth and the responsibility of ‘Kar Natak’. He also informed the gathering that this competition show will be guided and directed under the assistance of the organizers. Fr Francis Rodrigues, Walter Nandalike, MD of DaijiWorld and Sangeeth Guru Joel Periera will be the esteemed judges of ‘Kar Natak’. The popular MC Alwyn Danti will be compering the show.

This competition will be held in the Don Bosco Hall here on March  11 and 12 . It will also be telecast on DaijiWord TV and ‘Comedy Company Mangalore’ YouTube channel.
