Puttur: Occupants have providential escape as car goes up in flames

Puttur, Oct 3: A car got gutted as fire erupted in the engine while it was on the run. This mishap occurred at Golithottu near Uppinangady on national highway on Saturday October 1 late night.

Melwyn and Gokuldas travelling from Bengaluru to Puttur in the Swift Dzire car. As it reached Golithottu, fire suddenly erupted in the car. Alert inmates in the vehicle, immediately stopped the car and got out of it. However, the car got completely engulfed in the fire mishap.

A case is registered in Uppinangady police station.

    incidents are increasing of late...seems car engines are also fake now with low quality atma nirbhar materials...jai ho

    Some what agree with you "real kujuma, kodial". But here responsibility of vehicle owner also contribute such incidents. Have you heard of any one replacing of fuel lines inside engine compartment periodically? Only replace when fuel start leaking. Now a days majority of low pressure fuel line are made of rubber tubes(Cost reducing), which have a life span as they are at high temperature zone. Due to aging and other ambient factors, they become hard/brittle/break and fuel leak. If the fuel (Petrol or diesel) spill on the exhaust manifold which is red hot, no doubt fatal fire hazard.

    real kujuma kodial dont blame everything on engine.Some responsibility on owner too must be there .On a long drive first check op things.filling water or some time to cool hot wheels.Many times people forget fill up water .when was a check up in workstatt?Thank God noone got injured but escaped fast.
