Mangaluru: Gandhi Jayanthi celebration held at Milagres Educational Institutions

Mangaluru, Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanthi celebration was held at Milagres Educational Institutions on Sunday, October 2. NSS and NCC units of Milagres College, Hampankatta later took up a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the occasion.

Staff of Milagres CBSE, led the prayer service focussing on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The dignitaries, Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, correspondent, Milagres Educational Institutions, Fr Joseph Uday, principal, CBSE, Stany Baretto, principal, high school section along with the chief guest paid floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhiji.

Melwin Vas, principal, Milagres PU College was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and said there is a need to inculcate certain values in our day to day lives.

Fr Michael L Santhumayor, principal, Milagres College presided over the function.

Patriotic song was sung by Stany Baretto and team. NSS volunteer Anjum, shed light on the significance of the day. Surayya Sadaf, compeered the program.

On account of the day Swachh Bharath Abhiyan, a cleanliness campaign was held at Sulthan Bathery and its surroundings. In all, 25 NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took active part in the programme.
