Mangaluru, Sep 30: A tahsildar and his assistant were caught red-handed on Friday September 30 afternoon while receiving bribe at the taluk office at Mini Vidhana Soudha in the city.

Tahsildar Purandar and his assistant Shivananda Natekar are the accused. They were taken into custody by the Lokayukta police. The duo sought Rs 4,700 bribe for issuing NOC to a citizen of the city.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Lokayukta SP Laxmi Ganesh and DySP Cheluvaraj. This is the first case after Lokayukta was reinstated as the Anti-Corruption Bureau was dissolved by the government.

It's not strange or surprising. If you go to revenue section in Mangalore corporation, they take Rs. 200 for every document received without issuing any pay slip. Down on the ground floor they charge Rs. 80 to 100 for every property tax bill. This is open bribe.

So the actual cost of NOC is 11,750. As per BJP rule he has to deduct 40% (i.e. 4700) at source for BJP share. What is wrong in that? We all know this. Election is nearing. Why to make big issue of it? Whole of Hindustan this normal.
