Doha to Host Indian Cultural Extravaganza


Dubai, Apr 27 (PTI) An organization of Kerala expatriates in Qatar will stage a programme of Indian classical dances in its capital city of Doha next month in which more than 25 artistes from India will participate.

The programme is being held as part of the Nilolsavam 2011, a regular event of the Palakkadan Nattarangu?s annual calendar.

At the four-hour show on May 12, artistes will perform Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, Kuchchuppidi, Kathak, Odissi and contemporary forms of classical dances, a Gulf Times report said.

A fusion musical show featuring music composer Aattukal Balasubramanium (violin), Karuna Moorthy (Takil) and Laser Sasi (drums) will be another highlights of the show.

At a function held at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Indian embassy first secretary M R Qureshi formally launched the sale of tickets for the event, handing over the first ticket to ICC president K M Varghese.
