Mumbai, Apr 24: The special squad of Konkan Railway (KR) ticket checkers nabbed several ticketless passengers on the Matsyaganda Express between Mangalore to LT Terminus, Kurla, here, recently.

KR ticket checkers, with the help of policemen, detected about 20 passengers travelling without tickets in the general compartment of Matsyaganda Express when it stopped briefly at Kundapur in Udupi district.

It’s significant that a majority of the ticketless passengers were women travelling regularly on the same express train.

The ticketless passengers are causing major hindrance to bonafide passengers.  KR loses revenue on this route owing to ticketless passengers, who can very well afford Rs 210 for a one-way ticket.

Shambu Shetty, a regular traveller on Matsyaganda, says that its an irony that Mangaloreans who are known for their honesty are being disgraced by a few ticketless passengers.
